Wissman teaches Ramp Camp.

I have been busy as can be, from 8am to 3pm I have been teaching Ramp Camp at the Plan Nine Skatepark in the St. Louis Mills mall. I get to meet a lot of rad kids and show them the ropes. Here are some photos of last weeks campers.

The Rad One in Spain

I haven´t been able to get any pics of me skateboarding yet and you can tell why if you look at my ankle. That was on the 4th of July when I couldn´t walk on it, but now I can walk on it and I skateboard to class (sort of). I´m going to go to some skate parks pretty soon here and hopefully I can get some sweet pics.

Working a full time job waking up at 5 am every morning to work 7 – 3 downtown is a chore and its leaving me and my body completely useless in the afternoon. So I plan to leave my weekends open for bro time. That means if you call me and want to skate/film, plan for it on the weekends where I’ll be most certainly down. I miss everyone dearly.

I might even be working on it.

that was all fucked up.

Mini Top 5: Andy Wissman

When I started filming skateboarding a little over a year ago, I watched so many videos featuring Andy. It started with videos of Josh Hancock, because his autograph on a baseball bat is still a center piece of our family room. In a video featuring the two, I saw Andy kickflip front board the legs of a shaky unstable bench with Kanye West-like confidence. At first glance, Andy Wissman is a burly man with a beard to boot. But beneath the burly exterior lies one of the wisest souls I have ever had the pleasure to come across in this spirit journey we call life. He is so wise I bet he is solely responsible for creating the idiom “pearls of wisdom”, but we will never know because the only thing that shines through Andy Wiseman’s Confucius caliber wisdom and advice is his modesty… And his skating ability… Also his sense of humor.

I had almost forgotten that I couldn’t really skate the day I went to St. Charles, due my extraordinarily weak wings, because Wissman kept me thoroughly entertained the entire time.

And boy is that beard something in person. My single solitary post on Slap’s message boards discusses my 5 year plan of quitting skateboarding to join the competetive beard growing circuit with Ted De Gros, but after seeing some of my competition, I am thinking about signing Andy up in my place. With a beard that extravagant you have to be wise… Or just crazy, homeless and under the influence of some illicit substances. Thank goodness it isn’t the latter.

many of you are too young to remember, but rob dyrdek used to skate AND wear shoes that did not match his hats.

letter to the editor.

This was in the warrensburg paper.

Dear Editor,

Sunday was Go Skateboarding Day and the Warrensburg Skatepark was buzzing with barbecue and bros.
The sweat was pouring, water and grape soda were pounded, and there were hammers and slams aplenty.
At 35, I was easily the oldest skater in attendance. But I took my beatings with the best of them, battled the incredible heat and enjoyed every minute.
It was one of the best sessions I’ve had in years, and everyone there had Andy Wissman and Canvas Skateboards to thank. Thanks, guys, for convincing me to jump into the fray.
As a father on Father’s Day, celebrating the summer solstice on Go Skateboarding Day was awesome.
I just checked out the coverage of Kansas City’s Go Skateboarding Day in the Star and saw that hundreds of skaters turned out at the Penn Valley Skatepark. They had some pros, including the incredible Sean Malto, of Kansas. How cool to see that park thickly lined with spectators and riders.
No pros came to Warrensburg and neither did the local media. Maybe one of us skaters should have called. There were virtually no spectators, save for the pool traffic.
It would have been nice to see more parents and family members there to cheer our local rippers. These kids shred.
They get along amazingly well and certainly didn’t deserve the insult that came with the installation of the security camera shortly after the park opened.
The public money used to install that stupid camera should have been used for a light pole or two at the park.
Anyway, here’s to another great Go Skateboarding Day. I’m looking forward to the next one already.
